FAQs

  1. What insurance do you accept? We help with all insurances. In most cases you will only be required to pay a co-pay for your visit
  2. How can I pay my bill? We accept cash, checks and all major credit cards. We also offer several payment options: - Established patients with our office may choose to divide their payments into 3 equal payments - We offer Care Credit for those who would like more flexible payment plans, interest free, but only for fees of $1,000 or more - A 5% discount is offered for those wishing to pay at least one week in advance of their treatment. (This does not include routine hygiene visits)
  3. Do you treat children? Yes, we treat all ages. We are a family friendly practice
  4. What is a safe way to whiten my teeth? We believe the best and most cost effective way to whiten teeth are with custom whitening trays from a dental office. A few over-the-counter products do work in some ways, but are not as effective and some may cause harm to the teeth.
  5. Are Amalgam fillings safe? There has been much discussion on this in the dental community. While silver or amalgam or mercury fillings have been around for over 150 years, and in some cases are fine until they need replacing, we have chosen not to place mercury fillings in our patients mouths since 1994. We use composite fillings (white fillings) are much more difficult to place than the mercury/amalgam fillings as the moisture has to be controlled to allow the bonding to take place. White fillings are more “tooth friendly”and are more esthetically pleasing. In our office, the incidence of sensitivity and root canals has dramatically decreased since 1994. ( see #9 below)
  6. Which type of toothbrush should I use? A soft one easily removes soft plaque and will not harm the teeth and gums.
  7. What's the difference between a "crown" and a "cap"? They are the same
  8. Is one toothpaste better than others? We plain low abrasive fluoride toothpaste, without the additives, which can cause increased tooth sensitivity for some people.
  9. What about "silver" fillings versus "white" fillings? The “silver” fillings contain approximately 51% mercury and are called amalgams. The mercury allows the filling to “creep” or expand and may cause teeth to crack. The “white” or composite fillings are space age plastics which have been used for over 20 years. They are bonded or glued into the teeth. (see #5 above)
  10. Do I need to have a root canal just because I have to have a crown? No, most crowns are done to hopefully prevent a root canal by strengthening and protecting the tooth.
  11. Do you do implants? Yes, we restore implants with crowns or dentures. We work with many great surgeons who place the implant.
